Staff guide
Tell us when you can work
You post your hours, the manager builds the week, and your shifts come back to you. About a minute to learn.
Availability
The hours you're offering. A wish, not a promise — nothing here means you're working yet.
My shifts
The hours you're actually on, set by your manager. These are the ones that count.
- 1
Create your account
On the home page choose “Create a staff account”. Use the email address you actually check — that's where your shifts get sent.
- 2
Wait to be approved
A manager has to let you in before you can post anything. Until they do you'll see a holding screen — that's normal, not a fault.
- 3
Post when you can work
Open Availability, tap the days you're free, set From and Until once, then Add. Tap several days together to give them all the same hours.
- 4
Keep a copy of your shifts
On My shifts, “Email me my shifts” sends you the hours you're actually scheduled for — not the ones you asked for.
- 5
Get your week
When the manager publishes the rota you get an email and a notification in the app. Your shifts live under My week.
Good to know
- Posting hours isn't a shift. Until a manager schedules you and publishes the week, nothing under Availability means you're working.
- Change your mind any time. Remove a slot with the bin icon and add a new one — right up until the schedule is set.
- Split shifts are fine. Add two separate windows on the same day, for example a brunch and an evening.
- We'll flag clashes. If new hours overlap something you already posted, you'll get a warning before it's saved.
- Late finishes work. An end time past midnight, like 18:00 to 00:30, is understood as the same shift.
Put it on your phone
Shift Room runs in your browser, but you can add it to your home screen so it opens like a normal app — its own icon, full screen, no address bar. Takes ten seconds.
- 1.Tap the Share button at the bottom
- 2.Scroll down and tap “Add to Home Screen”
- 3.Tap “Add” — the wine glass icon appears
- 1.Tap the ⋮ menu, top right
- 2.Tap “Install app” or “Add to Home screen”
- 3.Confirm — the icon appears with your apps
